The Elumenate Voices Fund
The Elumenate Voices Fund is a developing initiative dedicated to supporting individuals who experience genuine financial or personal hardship after coming forward with information that serves the public interest.
Every important investigation begins with someone willing to speak.
A survivor. A whistleblower. A witness. An employee. A community member. A professional. An investigative source.
Yet for many people, coming forward is not simply a question of courage—it is a question of survival.
Speaking publicly can mean the loss of employment, financial instability, retaliation, legal expenses, professional attacks, reputational harm, social isolation, or pressure from institutions, employers, family members, or communities. For many, the risks extend beyond themselves to spouses, children, and others who depend upon them. These realities help explain why so many important stories remain hidden for years.
At Elumenate, we believe investigative journalism should not end when a story is published.
Meaningful public-interest reporting depends upon people who are willing to come forward, and whenever possible, those individuals should not have to carry the consequences alone. The Elumenate Voices Fund is being developed to help provide practical support during the period when people are often at their most vulnerable, helping bridge the gap between disclosure and stability so that financial hardship is less likely to become a barrier to speaking when it matters most.
The fund is intended to support individuals from all backgrounds whose decision to come forward in the public interest results in legitimate personal or financial repercussions. While many of Elumenate’s investigations involve women and the unique challenges they often face when exposing abuse, misconduct, discrimination, or institutional failure, the fund is not limited to any one group. Its purpose is to support those whose willingness to come forward contributes to greater public understanding and accountability.
The Elumenate Voices Fund is also being built around a commitment to transparency. Its purpose is not to become another organization sustained by executive salaries, unnecessary administrative layers, or institutional overhead. The guiding principle is simple: resources intended to support people who come forward should benefit those people directly. As the fund develops, any necessary operational, legal, financial, or compliance requirements will be handled openly and responsibly while maintaining this commitment.
The fund is currently in its formative stage, and we are actively developing its structure, governance, partnerships, and long-term sustainability. This is an opportunity to build something meaningful from the ground up—something designed to serve the people who make investigative journalism possible.
If you believe in this mission and would like to help establish the Elumenate Voices Fund, we would love to hear from you. Whether you are interested in contributing financially, providing legal or professional expertise, helping develop the fund’s structure, volunteering your time, forming strategic partnerships, or supporting this initiative in another way, your involvement can help bring this vision to life.
